Lucid recalls over 27,000 Air sedans due to fire risk

The automaker is urging owners who have not yet updated their software to park their vehicles outside and away from structures.

Lucid is recalling 27,185 Air sedans from the 2022 through 2026 model years because of low-voltage exterior lighting circuits that can overheat.
The overheating issue, which can cause smoke or fires, is resolved through an over-the-air software update.
The majority of affected vehicles have already received the update, but remaining owners will be notified by mid-October.

Lucid filed a recall with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration covering 27,185 Air sedans from the 2022 to 2026 model years.[Car and Driver]
The recall is caused by low-voltage exterior lighting circuits that lack sufficient overcurrent protection, allowing them to run at excess amperage and potentially overheat, smoke, or catch fire.[Car and Driver]
Lucid is aware of three fires, four reports of smoke, and 33 warranty reports of damaged center high-mounted stop lamp wiring harnesses believed to be linked to the issue.[Car and Driver]
An over-the-air software update, version 2.10.0 or later, resolves the problem by lowering eFuse amperage and preventing faulted circuits from re-energizing.[Car and Driver]
At the time of the recall filing, 20,719 of the affected vehicles had already installed the corrective software update.[Car and Driver]
